We’re really excited to share with you our new FREE any-time event, The Stretton Summits Round, sponsored by our friends at Rab. The round is an 18.5 mile circular route with around 4000 feet of ascent and is open year round for anyone to enjoy, for free. The round has been born from our love of The Shropshire Hills and in particular those that surround our home of Church Stretton providing us with spectacular views and cracking trails all within a short walk from our doorstep.

Starting and ending at the shop at 29 Sandford Avenue in Church Stretton, SY6 6BH, the route takes in the majority of the summits visible from the town. The challenge . . . complete the round within shop hours!
Those who complete the Stretton Summits Round will be awarded one of our money can’t buy badges, designed by Romy Design, a locally based designer.
To redeem your prize you must record your route on a wearable device. Set your device to record elapsed time to include any stops or breaks and off you go. You can also have your photo taken to feature your time on our vault-door score board. But don’t panic, if you can’t complete within shop hours, email your route/time from your device to us at sales@theoutdoordepot.co.uk including your address and we’ll post out a badge to you.

Along the Route you’ll pass some of our favourite places. Helmeth Wood in Spring is swathed in a carpet of Blue Bells and Wild Garlic. From Pole Bank on top of the Long Mynd you have a superb view across to Stiperstones and beyond.
If you are after refreshments then you’ll be pleased to hear that Church Stretton boasts a plentiful choice of Cafes and eateries as well as two bakers and a Deli who will be happy to supply snacks or lunch for you to take away. The route also passes The Ragleth Inn in Little Stretton, a warm and welcoming country pub with a beer garden. Please make sure you have enough water with you (and your four legged friend if they’re with you!) whilst the weather is warm as there are no water refills on the route.
Church Stretton has parking in the town as well as good train and bus links from Shrewsbury to the north and Ludlow to the South. There are plenty of options too if you wanted to extend your stay and make the most of the local area. Accommodation can be found at Visit Shropshire and we have often used Woodland Stays for our relatives visiting.

Can highly recommend the ‘Stretton Summits Round’ – it’s a fantastic days walk/run with amazing views of the Long Mynd and wider Shropshire Hills AONB – and a testament to the great work Emily and James put in to their fantastic store experience. Don’t forget your badge on completion and hopefully secure your place on the leader-door! If you need somewhere to stay with a hot tub to relax after the walk don’t hesitate to contact Mark on 07967226501 or http://www.woodlandstays.co.uk
